SAFETY TIPS
LIGHTENING LOSSES

Lightening can strike your building and cause a fire, shutdown, or damage production equipment.
Are your buildings properly grounded? Lightening follows the easiest path to the ground, so if you give it a path, you can reduce the chance of damaging your building, electrical panels, and equipment. (Not to mention prevent fires which can take out your whole facility.)
ELECTRICAL PANELS: Another safety precaution regarding electrical: FIRE SAFETY REQUIRES A CLEAN
ZONE WITHIN 36 INCHES OF YOUR ELECTRICAL BOXES. Sparks or overheating from your electrical panel can cause fires, so check regularly to make sure employees are keeping these areas clean.
OUTSIDE PALLET STORAGE
Pallets present a fire risk.
Whether you are manufacturing or storing for later use, they need to be carefully managed so they don’t cause fire hazards to your operations. A few simple rules:
• Piles should be located at least 20 feet from buildings with wood frames (or metal pole buildings)
• If buildings are masonry, piles should be at least 15 feet away
• NEVER STACK PALLETS MORE THAN 15 HIGH (To prevent falling and tipping while moving).
• Never stack pallets on end – this creates a chimney effect and allows them to burn more easily.
