Rack Safety Awareness Training

Overview

Rack safety goes far beyond the warehouse floor. A safe racking system starts with proper design, installation, and ongoing management.

To ensure safety and efficiency, racking systems must be:

  • Designed for the specific products being stored
  • Suitable for stock rotation requirements
  • Compatible with material handling equipment
  • Used correctly by trained personnel
  • Regularly monitored and maintained

This training provides a foundational understanding of how to maintain safe and reliable racking systems across all stages of use.

  • Poor rack safety practices can lead to:

    • Structural failure and potential rack collapse
    • Damage to goods and equipment
    • Increased risk of workplace injuries
    • Operational inefficiencies and downtime

Key insight: Rack safety is a shared responsibility—from design and procurement to daily use and inspection.

  • This training is designed for:

    • Forklift operators and drivers of material handling equipment
    • Personnel using equipment such as pallet jacks
    • Warehouse staff working in and around racking systems
    • Supervisors responsible for storage safety and operations

To provide participants with a solid understanding of the safe use of forklifts and mechanical handling equipment in environments with pallet racking.

The course promotes best practices aligned with industry standards and health & safety legislation, helping to:

  • Minimize risk of injury
  • Prevent damage to goods and infrastructure
  • Reduce operational disruptions

By the end of the training, participants will understand:

  • Legal responsibilities related to racking system use
  • The purpose and importance of Load Notices / Plaques
  • The limitations of racking systems vs. handling equipment
  • Common causes of damage and how to identify hazards
  • The importance of immediate damage reporting
  • Proper pallet quality, types, and condition for safe storage
  • Consequences of poor maintenance of storage systems
  • Risks associated with changes in storage configuration

6–7 hours
Includes both:

  • Theoretical instruction
  • Practical application

Warehouse Operator / Forklift Driver Rack Safety Awareness Training

    Overview

Forklift impact is the leading cause of damage to pallet racking systems—most often occurring near the base of uprights. Even minor collisions from forklifts or pallet jacks can compromise structural integrity, reducing load capacity and increasing the risk of collapse.

This training focuses on prevention and damage minimization, equipping personnel with the knowledge needed to protect both people and infrastructure while maintaining safe warehouse operations.

    • Forklift-related damage is often unnoticed but highly dangerous
    • Structural weakening can lead to rack failure or collapse
    • Even low-impact collisions can cause serious long-term damage
    • Preventative awareness helps reduce:
      • Workplace injuries
      • Product damage
      • Operational downtime

Bottom line: Awareness is the first line of defense in warehouse safety.

    • This training is designed for:

      • Forklift operators and drivers of material handling equipment
